It won't look original, although, if you could find a fabricator to exactly match the pattern of the original bed, it could look "Original". There should be a fabrication shop somewhere who can come very, very close.

The advantage to using the aluminum is that it will never rust (VHT, Powdercoat, Clear Paint covered). If you don't coat it with something, it will only oxidize.

Our 20 gallon fuel cell is approx. 1-1/2" above the bed surface itself, however, if you used a smaller fuel cell or keep your existing gas tank, you would end up with an exact replica of the original bed, only in aluminum (Polished, Brushed, Beadblasted Surface).

Anyway, we really like the way (LOOK) it is turning out.

We also are "Tubbing" our '69, however, you wouldn't have to if are trying to retain that "Original Look".

Hope this helps.

We also may have found a fabricator here in Las Vegas who can do several different patterns of the actual bed surface.

Will post the info when we meet them on Monday.

P.S. Add up the cost(s) of what you want to do, then decide if you want "Quality", and you will find out going to an all aluminum bed and beam supports is well worth it. Having said that, it is alot of work (Our budget dictated that we had to do as much of it as possible), but boy is it going to look "GREAT!", and "PROFESSIONAL!".

Cath you later.
