I recently installed an 700r4 into my 71 Chevelle. After the installation and adjusting the TV Cable with a pressure gauge I found that the main line pressure is bouncing between 45-85 psi at idle with the trans in park. Upon test drive I found it slip at WOT 1-2 shifts and to go in and out of OD while cruiseing down the road. I know I have a pressure problem but just dont know where to go from here? Any input would be nice.
Thanks
Robert

what is the pressure at full tv?heeres how it works so you can chase the problem .in p,n,d with 0 tv the pressure regulator valve will send approximately 80 psi of steaady pressure to the tv limit valve.at full tv the pr will send approximately 200 psi of steady pressure to the tv limit valve.the tv limit valve regardless of tv cable position will send a steady 90 psi to the throttle valve plunger .at 0 tv the plunger will send o psi out of it thru the tv valve postion to the line bias valve and then to the tv boost valve in the pump to raise the pressure .at full tv the plunger will send 90 psi out of it thru the tv valve position to the line bias valve and then to the tv boost valve in the pump to raise it to 200 psi.this is providing the pump is able to suck a clean and abundant amount of oil out of the pan and thru the filter into the pregulator port. a loose or dirty filter or low oil level will cause a fluctuating low supply of oil as well as a broken pump rotor .pressure must rise approximately 30 psi for every 25%,1/4 or 22.5 degrees of throttle opening.if it doesnt the clutches and bands will slip.

My trans was rebuilt about a year ago and does not have many miles on it. It is not low on fluid that is one of the first things I cked. I have replaced the filter and changed the fluid. I have recked the operation of the TV valve and it seems to be correct.
