I just had my car painted do you think it woudl be possible to unbolt the front fenders and clean up / rust protect the backside carefully without damaging the new paint? I think i missed a few spots of bare metal

Anything is possible. Many people paint their parts separately and bolt them together afterwards. If it was painted as a whole I'd be scared to to it. I'd be afraid of the paint gluing the header panel to the fenders where there is a tight seam. Maybe run a razor blade through the seams first. You will need at least two other people that know what they are doing to pull this off in my opinion. If your worried about having bare metal on the backs of the fenders you could blow some paint in there with a WD-40 "needle nose" red plastic spray tube on top of your spray can while it is together.

I may try to do that. I already thought of the razor on the front of the header panel to seperate the clear coat. I dont know if the red spray tip willl get good enough coverage in there so that it wont rust.

Take out the inner fenders.
