Is there any thing i can do to spindles, after being sandblasted, that will prevent them from rusting...If they will rust... like a coating of POR15 or any other type of paint,what should i do to protect the spindles?

I like Eastwood Co. "spray grey" paint. Looks like the cast color but protects. It's a little spendy and their shipping cost policy only adds to it. I'm sure there are similar products locally at retail stores.

Napa Zincrom Primer then Napa Iron/Block Cast. If you only use light coats the roughness of the cast will show up better. Wet them with lacquer thinner and while there wet blow it from one end to the other, kind of takes the dirt off in sheets, carefull very flammable.
