i cut a lot of the less-important webbing out of the underside of my trunk lid, leaving the outer edges intact for strength and to retain use of the factory latch and hinges.while monkeying with the torsion rods to adjust the hinge-tension for the now-lighter trunk lid i discovered the best tension setting is with the rod ends completely unattached at the adjustment ends and wedged against the hinge brackets instead of using the adjustment notches the factory provides.i'm thinking i could weld the ends in place where they are.has anyone heard of this or done this before? i want to do it right the first time and this looks like an easy solution.i just dont want problems developing later on.thanks for any input.this is getting to be interesting!

When you put heat to these rods they will lose their strength, you'd be better off just make a bracket to hold them in the position you need. JMO
