: Think I should try and save a '70 4 door?

I happen to know a guy who restores '64-'72 Chevelles for a hobby. He works as a mail carrier so he finds them in in various conditions. When he has finished restoring one he usually puts it up for sale, however he also sells his findings the same way he found them to whoever wants them.

His backyard is filled with Chevelles and parts. One of his Chevelles is a '70 4 door he got for a parts car. It has a 307/powerglide and factory A/C. He has told me that once he gets all the parts he needs off of it he's sending the rest to the scrap.

I've tried to talk him into selling it as a running car but he seems to not want to do that.

It dawns on me that what if he were to use it for parts, but put all the old parts off the cars he's trying to fix on it and sell it as a complete car?

I'd give the gy $500, heck I might even give him $1000 if it runs....not too worried about the body. I was thinking of a cheapo paint job and some rally wheels.....just to make it look cool. I've already got a set of headers in the garage.

BTW if any of you come to Fayetteville I'll get up with him and see if he doesn't mind you coming out....to buy a car or parts. :)

Hey, 4 doors need love too. I think the 64-65 body styles are the nicest... though I may be biased.

The only thing is with gas prices skyrocketing will it be practical? I'm wanting to make this a daily driver/beater. I'm not planning on beefing it up. But I have wondered if I should swap the 307 for an inline six for better gas milelage? Not sure if I'd keep the PG or not.

Just want it to be a good economy car

I think its worth more than $500 in parts. 70 front clip is worth money.

He kept the front clip for a project car but I'm going to see if he'll put the junk clip on the front.

It'll be multi-colored but that's nothing a quick Maaco job can't fix.
