cooked,blasted and powder coated...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

hello all!
i recently bought a 66 malibu and am in the process of getting prices for a frame blast and powder coating...
i called the person i have had small items coated before, and asked him if they do frames .... and he said yes.
they do a 3 step process...
1. cook the frame to get rid of all grease and oil.
2. sand blast the frame.
3. powder coat.

my question is what is a good price??
he told me that the total for the frame and any other parts (springs, control arms) would be 800.00
is this a good price?
when he told me i thought right away... it was a good price.... but i have learned to shop around. so i need some input.
i thought about the galvinizing thing but i will pass on that.

also i am in the york,pa area
any good places in my area to go to and get a price on?

thanks everyone!!

That price doesnt sound too bad. I paid 600 for my frame and a few small bits here in Oregon, and oregon tends to be on the cheaper side. They used the same process as u described. Also, after they de-greased and blasted the frame they gave me a call so I could come over and inspect the frame for any cracks or 'problem' areas before it was powdercoated.

If you do it send some pictures. I was thinking of doing the same thing.

While its not a 66 frame, here is a shot of my 70 chevelle frame after powdercoating.

great that is good to hear...
i thought the price was not to bad.. just glad to hear it from someone else.
getting a look at the frame after the blast is a good idea... i will ask about that... also i am going to try to get some pic's of the frame, between the processes.

thanks guys.....
