First, Thank you for clicking on my post.

Like everyone else it seems, I'm doing a 2dr wagon. My current problem is the right quarter. A new one is my first choice, but where can the choosie get a good one? I bought one from a local Chevelle parts place, they said it was a Goodmark? It stunk, so I took it back. When I got it home and put it next to the original,it was a lousy stamping. I've heard real good reports about Goodmark, and since the quarter I bought didn't have any kind of identification I'm not convinced it was one of theirs. If it was..... who's making the good stuff? And, If any of you Arizona,Nevada, So Cal guys are reading this how much for a super choice one? I wish I could get one to fit from a 70-72, crap... you can get those at 7-11 all day long.
So where did you pickie El Camino guys get yours. I'd like to get first hand experience. Thanks everyone.

Max, I ordered the goodmark 1/4 Skin for my '65 malibu from goodmark. I feel it is an unsat piece and doubt I will put it on my car. The body lines are awful, especially the area where the back of the wheel opening meets the lower rear 1/4. These parts sold by goodmark are not labeled as GM /OER. Goodmark also had the decency to ship me a previously dented panel, then to refuse to accept a return... the panel was packed between to nova 1/4s and a Nova floor pan. The dent on the panel is right on a body line. None of the Nova panels were dented, and they were packed outside of the malibu panel, so that tells me Goodmark packed and sent me a dented panel. BTW, the Nova 1/4 skins had very nice body lines.

I saw some quarter panels for the 64/65 El Caminos in a JC Whitney catalog a couple of years ago. I called and the response from the sales person was that they weren't very good and many had been returned. I never found any good ones so I got good replacements from an Arizona salvage yard.

The Chevelle quarters are not usable on the El Camino, so forget them, the dimensions are not the same.

I suggest looking in Hemmings for salvage yards and getting good used ones.

I buy alot of parts from Red's auto in Troup TX. Mike (Red) will take a pictue of the part and send it to you before you pay. I will say this about Red's, he is not cheap, but when you get the part it is better than you expected. He use to work on the line at the GM plant in TX and know as much as anyone I know about 64-72 Chevelle and El Camino. His Number is (903)842-3141.

When I was looking for quarters for my Elcamino I was driving a tool truck. I talked to every bodyman on my route. they all told me the same thing. The quarters that are available for 64 Elcaminos are crap. I called a salvage yard in North Carolina that specializes in Chevelles & Elcaminos. They were so expensive that I decided to install the quarters that come in cans. If someone would make a full quarter that was good I would replace mine. I'd probably wait untill the paint started to fade. Maybe by then someone will make them.

Hey guys, thanks for the input. I sure wish the outlook was more positive. Here I sit, the car's gutted, needs a quarter to go forward and I'm stuck. Blue67camino, I'll try Red tomorrow. I can't see how his would be any better than the rest of the countries since they all originate from one or two different places. If a person was in the business of making replacement sheetmetal, while working on the dies to stampout your product why would you say "that's close enough" when their not right and the whole Elcamino community is saying your product is crap. And worse...Continue to stamp them out wrong. We'll see what Red says.

I am sorry I should have said that Red's is a used part place. You are not going to find anyone that has good body parts other than OEM. I am saying that you will know what type of use part you are getting from Mike and he will not send you any junk use parts. Good luck Jerry

Goodmark has promised 64/65 elcamino 1/4's for some time now. The 66/67 have hit the streets this summer. Sherman was to have early 1/4 also but I have no feedback on them. But if there anything like the 64/65 1/4 skins UGly !!!
On My 65 Elky I cut up reg goodmark 1/4 skins and made big Patch panels.
The wheel well area and lower rear 1/4 are unique to wagons and el-camino. but because of there shape not hard to fabracate.
Just a PITA.

Blue67camino, Red was a bust. He has a bunch of cars but no quarters worth the labor of putting on another car. A very nice fellow, and honest. I will use him in the future for other parts.Talking with him on the phone about his cars sure makes a guy wanna go on a road trip to see all these euphoric old chevy wrecking yards of the southwest.
It makes me nuts when I can't see and touch these 150 cars he was talking about.
Wayne, I think you have the best plan.I have a 65 Elco from Nevada that I can get most of what I need from, all but the lower section behind the wheel well. The rest I'll cut from a new quarter. That sounds so crazy, buy a whole quarter only to use 2 square feet of it.
One good thing (subject change), the rotisserie is just about done. I'll finish it today and bring it home. Been tripping over them at work for long enough. It came out pretty sweet though, maybe I'll post some pics of it, like the new proud papa.
Gotta go,Max
