Need help I think I screwed up ! reinstalling my steering column on my 66 I installed the firewall plate and rubber cover etcetc all that stuff down there ...even caulked it with dum dum ....... now I go to install steering column, can't seem to get the column with the rubber collar on it to go thru the firewall plate ....... is there a trick to this or was I supposed to install the firewall plate on the column with the rubber sleeve all as a unit to the firewall ? I hate to pulloff that plate and the gaskets etc`etc. Anyone been thru this on a 66?

Steering column goes in fine with out the rubber sleeve.
