: Paint booth rental in Phoenix/Mesa area?

Well, I've had my frame and various other suspension components media blasted. True to my nature, I didn't plan well enough about what I was going to do with the parts afterward and now I've got a freshly stripped bare metal frame sitting on my garage floor in the middle of monsoon season.

Basically, I've got three options as I see it. One, I could line my garage with plastic using inlet and outlet tacky filter/paint arrestors, etc. I believe I could get all the paint overspray itself, but not the volatiles which means my neighbors would smell it (not to mention my loving patient wife, who I would like to remain in that disposition ;) ).

Two, I could find a rental paint booth in the Phoenix/Mesa Arizona area. Anyone got a line on such a thing? Phonebook and google search yield no leads.

Three, I could acid etch the metal until I can manage either option 1 or 2.

I've read several other posts about the pros and cons of painting in your garage. Can those that have done it as well as those that have been ticked off by it comment? How bad is it with just spraying primer (assume garage lined and filtered)? I'm thinking it would not be easy to constantly drag the car to a paint booth everytime I want to spray a panel, but if I can't keep my wife/neighbors from smelling, that's what I'll do.

Might ask at Spaceage they would know if any are available.

Another option is to paint them in the driveway. Do it early morning (sunrise) when it's cool and there is no wind, and the sun is low enough so you are in the shade. Wet down the driveway so you don't stir up dust. The volatiles will dissipate quickly. Hopefully, your compressor won't be too loud, but as long as this is not a reoccurring thing, the neighbors probably won't complain.

Do you know somebody in the Military? Why not take it out to Luke if they have an auto shop and paint it there? Last time I checked, it was 30$ for a WHOLE DAY of booth rental...

I'm kind of in the same situation as you, 'cept about 50 miles south ;) . I have a place to do the paint work- at the Air Base here. PRoblem is, I dont have anywhere to do the Bodywork- DMAFB kept the damn paint booth open, but closed the body shop! Im still trying to figure out what I can do with that......I dont know about doing that stuff in the driveway, unless you live in an OLd neighborhood or one without a homeowners ASSociation. In AZ, they are notoriously intolerant..thats part of my problem too :( ..

I wish I did. I was in the Navy and all my buddies are on the East Coast. My wife's grandfather is retiered AF, but he is a snowbird so he won't be back in town for while. I might just make use of that suggestion this winter though... Thanks!

Yeah, my neighborhood has an HOA. I get side ways glances from some of the neighbors when they pass my garage. Some are amused, some are worried and others interested. I've got it on a rotisserie at the moment sitting on a 90 degree angle. Takes 'em a few seconds to figure out what it is, then they realize and it's amusing to watch their faces. :D

Anyways, thanks for the info guys! I'll check Space Age on my way home today.
