Is there a tool or method for removing drip rail molding and reinstalling it? 66 el camino.

I removed mine from the 69 SS with just a lot of pressure from my thumbs. I started at the rear end pushing and twisting toward the center of the car (outside edge twist/pushed in). A lot of people put black electrical tape on an old fashioned bottle/can opener and slowly pry it off starting at either end. My way resulted in absolutely no marks on the trim but mighty sore thumbs!

welcome aboard! Lots of good info available to you here.

I've had luck using an old "church key" type can opener-the square end. Wrap it with electrical tape to prevent gouging & slowly pry the molding up. You need to pry a little, move , pry a little, move. You don't want to try to get it off with the first pass. It may take 3 or 4 passes along the entire length before it pops loose.

I used a wooden board wrapped in a rag & a hammer to tap it back in place. hope that I've been some help.

The fun part comes when you try to install new repro drip moldings. It seems they're made just a tad too small to snap in place easily.

Take your time and pry with your thumbs and move on. And with a little luck you won't have to replace for warping. Like Von said the new ones are a b%$##.

Yep , new ones suck. I ruined my passenger side rail cuz the vinyl top was in the way. time to buy another new one again.
