Getting ready to install a Flowmaster American Thunder Exhaust System on my 1970 Chevelle 383 small block car. The kit has a H pipe, and the headers on my engine are the Hooker Super Competion 1 3/4 headers. Just wondered if any of you installed this exhaust on your small block Chevelle using these same headers, and how well did it bolt up. Looks to me it appears i may have to bend the pipes to make them fit under the cross member. These headers seem to kick out more so then the last set i had on the car. How much work did you have to do with yours? Thanks.

I have the same exact setup as you, same car, headers, and exhaust. It all fits but it's close. I have about 1/4" clearance.
Hope you don't have a kick-out pan or Lakewood, if you do you will need to clearance for both.

Hey Chris, I have Hooker Super Comps on a small block Chevelle. I had a custom crossmember to reduce weight and it also gave me more exhaust clearance. My collectors were dumping right into the stock cross member, if you want it up tight you will have to bend around the crossmember.
I put the America Thunder under a big block Chevelle and the H pipe is close to the drive shaft but pulls up tight. This car I was able to use the proper location under the cross member for the tubes.

I have a '70 'Velle with a 350ci. I put on the Hooker Super Comps (1 3/4") with the Flowmaster American Thunder system and all fit without any hassle.

Total install time was like 45 minutes on my chevelle with it on a pit. Would have been quicker, but I was using dynomax mufflers and I put on the diesel tips.

I had a 2 1/2 inch flowmaster system on my '69, and I had trouble with clearance with the H-pipe. It kept hitting the driveshaft. I do have a heavy duty yoke on the rear, whick may bring the driveshaft farther down. Not sure. Had to have the H-pipe modified
