I have a 71 Chevelle that had the sweep style gauge set that I recently converted to a SS gauge dash. Now only the tach and speedo light with the park lamps on, the temp gauge reads 250 key on engine off and the fuel gage is inop and my higbeam indicator and left turn indicator are inop. I know for a fact that the ground harness on the wiper and headlamp switches is installed and that the three ground wires to the left of the column under dash are connected to ground. I added 5 gals of gas to the tank and no sender movement and it did work before any thing done. I bought a 71 dash harness for my 71 velle from Elree Colby so I dont think that would be a concern. Any input on this would be nice. Robert

Inspect the printed circuit for damage.

Other than that. Start over.

The printed ckt is a replacement so I dont think it is the problem as far as damage goes.

I think the temp and fuel gauge is a grounding problem. You may have already read this ( http://www.chevelles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=102213) post, it should help with the gauge grounding. For the lights that aren’t working, turn on one of the lights that does work and use that slot to test the non working light/socket. Frequently the bulb is good but the bulb to socket connection is bad. Pulling the bulb out of the socket and reinsert it several times has worked for me. If that doesn’t get the lights working then each circuit will need to be checked starting at the light location check for power on the two copper traces, if no power go back to the 12 pin cluster connector.

I discovered that I forgot to connect the grounds up for the cluster. I left both of the ground screws for the printed ckt off and the ground wire off for the cluster. I repaired this and now the fuel and temp gauges read but not working correctly. The problem now is that when I turn on the park lamps both needles move and I can make them move as I turn the dimmer. What could this be???? I am at a lost.........
