: Body question - exhaust in car

Strange question I know, but here goes. I've posted before that I've got exhaust coming into the car. I opened the trunk tonight after driving and was gassed out. Well, I finally dragged my butt under the car and did some searching. Something escaped me last time. The quarters were replaced before I got the car. The inside rear sheetmetal that runs on the inside (frame side) of the lower rear quarter has been replaced, but only tack welded in in 3 spots. This is leaving 1/4" or larger gaps all the way down the joint to the rear wheel well, where the opening is even larger. Ok, since I don't have a welder, and the car isn't a trailer queen, do I just fill it with something like a caulk, or shell out money for a shop to weld it up right? If I go the fill route, what should I use?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

most of the seams I see in my Chevelle are only spot welded and covered over with seam seal. Philip

3M makes some good seam seal. Find someat your local body supply store.

Thanks guys. What should I do about the huge gap though - run a few sheet metal screws in? It is spot welded in a few areas. Or should I even bother and just seal it?

Thanks,
