Is this for a resto?Or collision? I know there's a place in Akron that does rods and stuff.I'll check my Cruisin Times. Mike

Its for a body off restoration on a 68 GTO ,I have a new frame done and everything on it is new.The body is still on its original rusty frame.I thought it would be best to leave it on the old frame and have the body work done and prepped for paint in primer and then put it on the new finished frame to paint it.Thanks Mike.

Check out the following site: www.mershons.com, (http://www.mershons.com,) this is a muscle car dealer in Springfield, OH (about an hour away). Even if you don't use them it is a cool place to visit - like going to a car show.

I'm pretty sure they do their own body work, but it is probably expensive. Top quality though.

You might try giving this guy a call:
Jim Wilkens Paint&Body
6921 Morgan Rd.

I've never dealt with him, but I have seen his work at several car shows in this area. It's top notch. He is in the Miamitown, Ohio area. About 1-1/2-2 hrs. from Columbus.

I live in Springfield, and bought Monte parts from Brian. I would not endorse Mershons. They are in the business of selling muscle cars, not a body shop.

I did hook into a shop on the East side of Columbus at the last Springfield Swap meet. All resto work. I have their card, but gave it to another member. I'll get it for you Brian.

They were reasonable when I asked for ball-park prices fro quarters, floors, etc. They had a decent photo album of cars they worked on.

I did put on the Monte trunk lid I got from you so I could strip and prime mine.

I had the fenders patched, stripped and primed, bought a Goodmark C.I. hood and I primed that too, rebuilt a 12 bolt with 3.73 Richmond gears and a GM posi carrier, put in a tilt column, and started to replace the carpet when my Q-Jet went south. Water damaged.

I think I ran into you at Jegs just before I had carb problems last year.

Took all summer running the carb back to the builder before getting an Olds Q-Jet rebuilt instead.

The old guy that rebuilt the 1st one did the 2nd one. He was at a loss why I couldn't get it right. He is something of a legend on any kind of carb in this area. He restores hi-dollar OEM carbs, that will look brand new.

She is running good now, but it got cold on me.

I did get involved in a new Chevelel club in Dayton. http://www.chevelles.net/tristate In fact I am the VP this year.

I saw the "brick" on your web page. Cool. Do you race it or just show & shine it?

Hey anybody up your way have a 69 Chevelle shell with decent metal? Our 03 president is doing a frame off and the shell is the worst part.

Later :D

DG i dont race the 56 but would like to get to the track and see what it would do.The 427 that is in the car now was in a camaro and it went 10.99,this 56 is a lot more car weight but i have made some changes to the engine also to improve it so it might be in the tens. Its fast enough for me it will get loose on you at just about any speed.I drive it when ever i can its a fun car to cruize in.The guy that rebuilt your carb is he local around here.I was curious to know if he replates them and what kind of price he charges for rebuilds.I have a quad of of the gto that needs done sometime.I have another 68-72 trunk lid that is perfect,no rust i cant seem to be able to get rid of do you know anyone who needs one its very nice.I cant seem to remember how to post pics with the replies can refresh my memory .I have pics saved at photo studio

I know he does complete body offs on a lot of nice and rare cars.He might be out of my price range but by me having everything else done except for the body work it might worth talking to him and seeing what kind of price he would want.I think he has a web site also. Thanks
