: Another hood alignment problem

Yea. It's me again. I decided to adjust the fenders for a better fit while I prep to repaint. Well the fenders are as good as I can get them. The problem is the hood. The hood lays flat but the gaps are off. The left rear rubs the fender and the right front rubs the front. I followed MARTINSR's basics and still can not get the gap right. When I push on the left rear of the hood it will move when all the bolts are tight. I tried shims where it bolts to the fender
but it will not stay that way. Any ideas?

You need to slightly shift the whole doghouse just a bit. Move the front passenger side a bit to the right. This should help do it. You might however need to readjust the hood again. I'm assuming the radiator support was off or moved at sometime.
Later RandyB...
Me and a friend just went through this on a 67 camaro. All new body except for the roof. I fought this thing for hours just getting the fenders to doors aligned. When it came time to align the hood we had the same problem. Loosened the core support with the fenders still on it, shifted it a bit and everything fell right into place.

If your gap between the doors and fenders seems too close, move the core support forward and that creates additional space.

Thanks for the replies so far. I worked on it again last night and I still cannot get it.

Any other ideas?

Hey Steve. I'm unfamiliar with your project. What kind of car is it?? I'm still pretty sure you need to adjust the doghouse. Does the hood only rub the back until you fully close it and then it doesn't rub anymore.Or does it rub the entire travel of closing and then after closing.

The doghouse looked good. I just kept playing with it and it came in line. I need to file a 1/16 off the right front headlight bracket. After that it fit good.

Thanks for the suggestions.
