I was trying to change out the valve springs today. Put the adapter in the sparkplug hole, then hooked up the air compressor it. Car jumped forward about a foot! Scared the ***** out of me let me tell you.

I then put the car in neutral :clonk: .

I heard about a guy once that was tuning his street/strip car. The air shifter was turned on and when he revved the engine, the air shifter shifted into reverse and shot the car backwards out of the garage.

2 years ago a racer at my track revved his car up in the pits, it lurched forward and killed his young daughter pinning her between the race car and his tow vehicle..very very sad...Please be Careful...

No, but I lost a keeper for my BB heads and had to move half of the shelving in my basement until I found the little, "blue" sucker 3 hours layer!!

NOT fun at all!!

Wow MC71454, that hits too close! The story I heard was about a guy's garage. So, hopefully your acquaintance's experience will remain as a respectful lesson for the rest of us.

BTW, my carburetor mentor , the guy that taught me to tune Holley's, died on the track (doing what he loved). Not the same as a child, though.

Yeah, you gotta be careful when you shoot the air to it. The engine will spin over......watch those fan blades too..

If I have an engine on the stand, I'll shoot some oil in the plug holes once in a while, and just plug air into each cyliner following the firing order. Turns it over, lubes the cylinders up quite nicely. No rusty cylinders, either. ;)
