69 Chevelles had body stripes that went down the side of the car.

It's never been confirmed that hood and deck stripes were ever available for '69, even as a dealer installed option. There have been rumors, and they're mostly attributable to statements made in Paul Herd's Chevelle restoration book, which no one would ever say contains only the gospel truth.

I do not beleive 70 style stripes were ever offered in 69, late year or otherwise. I don't know if any dealers ever painted them on, but that doesnt make them any more "correct" anyhow IMO. The 69 side stripe looks good, and really dresses up the car. I wasn't sure if i liked it at first either, but when i compare pictures of my el camino before i put it on versus after, i can't beleive i ever resisted putting it on... It is a decal, (was a decal originally too) and is available through any supplier you choose. I'd just make sure it is 3M vinyl. Click my signature if youd like to get an idea of what it looks like.

oh, and as for the Herd book, throw it away before you start believing stuff thats totally false... i made the mistake of buying it years ago and am STILL trying to separate the facts about chevelles form the myths i've accidently picked up from that book. I still giggle when i see the pic of the rare 4 spoke olds wheel in the 70 SS... i wonder how many guys have those in their cars today as a result of that picture...
