Has anyone tried that Golden Cad Plating from the Eastwood Company on their brake booster? How does it look?

I used it for the front brake brackets. It is a decent product for what it is. They have a new version of it out that might be easier to use. The kit had 3 or 4 cans of specially colored paint to "IMMITATE" the look of golden cad plating. If you are going to use the product you have to remember it is paint so the normal rules apply to prepping the parts. I would try to perfect the look on a test part of some kind before I was going to do a larger part. It takes practice to make it look like cad. It really is not a substitute for real cad plating, but it is cheaper.

dale3,

I was expecting an e-mail from you - I guess I should have e-mailed directly to you since your e-mail address is available. Sorry http://www.chevelles.com/forum/frown.gif

The reason I did not post the results of my experience using the cadmium 4-part paint was because it is essentially worthless. I did not want to get into supplier bashing. (and I guess I am now) nevertheless here it goes....

I have used Eastwood's products before and have been very pleased with them (especially the unnderhood black paint) except for the golden cadmium 4-part paint system. I used it on my brake booster with very poor results even following the directions to the tee. In fact, I removed the first paint job (because it looked like *****) and repainted again, still with poor results. Poor adhesion, and of course the wrong look of cadmium.

I eventually had the booster shipped out and had it cadmium plated. Awesome look to it now! Beats the paint hands down. Make the call and either use the cadmium paint or have it cadmium plated. I basically wasted ~$40 buying the paint. (BTW, Eastwood has "reformulated" the golden Cad paint system which i have no experience using... something must have been wrong with the original system since they have since come up with the new golden cad paint system.) I'll try to upload a pic of my plated booster ASAP

Thanks Super70, I tried to emails you twice from work http://www.chevelles.com/forum/eek.gif maybe shouldn't have done that from there. That's what I was afraid of that it would look like gold paint not cad plating. I think I will bite the bullet and have it professionally done. Thanks everyone.
