Ok I am very confused on the correct way to orient front coil springs

1. line up the bottom coil between the two holes in pocket. seems easy enough ... but if they were for indexing why didn't they just make that part the lowest part of the pocket (dead end). Why don't all GM control arms have them??

2. line up bottom coil at the lowest possible point where it dead ends and can not rotate anymore. This seems to be the right way but then no water can get out easily.
BUT ....camaro and Nova control arms do not have ANY holes to line it up with.... so it has no drainagle. corvettes from 63-82 have one hole at the bottom of the pocket end for drainagle(so simple)

I have read method #1 is the right way from a few people here and I heard #2 is the right way from a few people.

End of the coil spring goes between the two holes.

End of the coils go in the drop pocket where they cannot rotate anymore, you can place them between the holes if you like but the spring will rotate itself into that pocket.
