I have not done the filler panel on a Chevelle but have done Camaros and other sheet metal. Try to fit it the best you can. If the results are not acceptable you may want to return it and try onother piece. There seems to be a wide range of quaility with the repro parts, some good some not
Good Luck
67shovel Sep 12th, 05, 8:27 AM I put one in my 67 6 years ago. I was pleased with how well it fit. I forgot who the supplier was but I'll bet it's the same part you have. Whats the problem?
JJ67SS Sep 12th, 05, 11:40 AM Just cut out the filler panel (rear window to trunk filler panel) last week. We only placed the reproduction GoodMark piece in the same and marked for the windshield molding clip screws. It looked like a decent fit, but again, we just dropped it on top of the area, not fitting it in for the weld procedure...
CT Mark Sep 12th, 05, 1:21 PM I needed one for my '66 not long ago and was told that the repro pieces had fit issues so I found a nice salvaged GM piece.
136679ss Sep 12th, 05, 6:15 PM I just replaced mine a few weeks ago. the only gripe I have is the gap difference from one side to the other. What you need to do is consider how bad the one is that you are replacing. With that in mind I dont mind laying a little solder to make up the difference. Pretty good overall fit. Did you clamp it in place to really get an idea how the finished product will fit; because they required a little work at the factory too (back in 1967). Good luck Jason.
afenderman67 Sep 13th, 05, 1:11 AM well the old one was so rusted there was no saving it! the new import one does'nt fit right where the rear widow channel curves around to it, it does,nt line as well as i would like!
so i called OPG and they said they have 2 versions of this part, 1 is the import that is 20 gauge steel which is like the one i have, 2 is a usa which is 18 gauge steel? so i think i'll buy it and see how well it fits!
has anyone bought the usa piece from them?
67shovel Sep 13th, 05, 8:28 AM I got mine at OPG and it fit good.
67Mal Sep 13th, 05, 9:13 AM I also bought an import panel with "GM Restoration Part sticker" and was not happy with the fit.
Ordered from Shermanparts.com,USA made, looks and fits much more like
original.
Also had same experience with cowel to dash repair part for the bottom of windshield.
JJ67SS Oct 26th, 05, 6:39 PM The Goodmark rear window to trunk filler panel is now in. I agree with the fit in the corners and it seems to fit better on the passenger side then the driver side edges, but, it's new steel and WAY better than the one that was in there... I may shoot some primer tomorrow and work out the finer details back there...

BTW: I also replaced the front windshield dash cowl with a Goodmark piece, fit fine...
