im in san francisco and i want to paint my camino with dp-50. i was wondering if anyone knows where i can get my hands on some of the old stuff. its illegal here so i can only buy the lead free version. i heard that the lead based stuff was better though. is that true? or will the new stuff work as well?
thanks,
jamie

I had excellent results with the old DP line, The jobs I used it on are still holding up just fine. The newer DPLE isn't as good IMO and most everyone else I've talked to feel the same. There are many options for epoxy primer now. Valspar, Sikkens both offer good products. I've had excellent results with PPG's Industrial Line of epoxy EPX 900 also. Another one to consider from PPG is CRT-CT which is a heavy tintable epoxy that is very very durable and also sands OK if allowed to cure a few days. The old DP is history though. Bob

Ive got about a gallon DP90 laying around in my shop. I doubt its still good thou.
The ole DP and new DPLF are not even in the same boat.
Ill echo Bob on the Valspar. Ive never used it but know a few guys up north in Minn that build rods and swear by Valspar's VP50

PPG stopped making DP epoxy back in 98-99.
So unless you come across Marty Mcfly and his Deloran time machine you are out of luck
