Hey Gang,

I'm in the process of trimming my car back out. I am a bit perplexed about which clips to use for the rear glass molding. I bought clips that were supposedly factory replacements for the originals. However, when I attached them to the glass channel and try to put the moldings on, the moldings won't "catch" to the clips. It seems like the clips are to short and don't have a big enough lip on them.

Has anybody else had this problem? Can somebody verify that they in fact had different molding clips on the rear than on the front (I ask this because the windshield molding went on no problem)?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Bill

When I put the trim back on I always put a little grease on the clip. The trim will go on easier.

Bill. On my 66 the front and rear clips are different. The rear ones are bigger. Can get the rear molding on, but it is a pain to remove them again.

It's been a couple of years but I'm almost certain about 95% that the back clips are different than the front clips. It seems I purchased some clips at a local body shop and paint store and had to go back for some different clips when the glass guys came.

I just went through process of removing my glass and on my '69 there were two sizes of clips on the rear. The larger clip is the one that slides and the smaller clip is the one that the molding snaps down onto. The smaller clips were on the sides. I have no idea if this was the original setup or not, it's just what I had. It seems like the molding will snap down onto all the clips when they are in place, one at a time of course. Since I have not reached this stage myself, I'm just guessing.

I just removd my windshield and rear window yesterday on my 67 (DAM! chipped my windshield in the process!!) and the front and rear clips are different. Frontclips are small screw-on type on the sides and kinda rectangular shaped push-on the stud type on the top and bottom. On the rear they are all the same top, bottom and sides. They are tall kinda roundish shaped and stick up about 9/16" from the glass surface. But I'm not sure if the 69 rear glass trim fit the same way as a 67! Mike, M22
