: How Do U Install Rear Swaybar?????
lemonice Sep 8th, 05, 11:25 AM i know this sounds like a stupid question, but how in the world does the rear swaybar go in. i just ordered a (kit) 2 lower rear boxed control arms and a sway bar. these are like factory. not any homemade stuff, or super wild wierd stuff. this is the factory F41 kit. but i cant figure out how the bar goes on. P.S. i do have the car on jack stands that are under the frame, so the rear end is hanging down. the rear tires are off. any pics would be GREAT. thanks for any help...
SS4speed Sep 8th, 05, 12:14 PM Each Lower Boxed control arm has two holes, just up from where it attaches to the rear Axle. The Rear Sway bar just hooks up between the two rear control arms. The bar of the rear sway bay goes towards the back, while the two ends point forward. Most likely you will need the shims that come with the bar. Use the shims to eliminate all play between the Boxed control arm and the sway bar. Otherwise you will be jamming the control arms, but pulling them in towards each other. That's about it, in a nutshell.

Rich-L79 Sep 8th, 05, 4:28 PM Go here and look at the third photo from the top. This is an aftermarket sway bar but it installs the same as a stock bar.

lemonice Sep 8th, 05, 11:30 PM well i think i know now what the problem is/was.i have my car on jack stands and the rear tires are off. so my rearend is hanging down, so when i try to put the bar on the chunk is in the way. so if i jack up the diff the bar should go in.so now i am assuming that (AFTER SWAYBAR INSTALLATION) if i were to jack my car up in the rear and put it on jack stands (under the frame) that the rearend chunk would be resting right on the swaybar.going to try to get it in tomorrow...
SS4speed Sep 9th, 05, 8:16 AM Just put her up on a set of Ramps, and bolt on the sway bar. That's all I had to do, when I put it back on.

That chunk? You mean the center diff carrier? It travels up/down together with the lower control arms, so it will never interfere with the sway bar. If it did, once you bolted the sway bar on, how would you be able to jack up the car again?
lemonice Sep 9th, 05, 5:17 PM thanks for all the info. i got her done.....
