Number is more than likely 3858108, 64-67 block.

Well, if its 60 or 61 it won't be a 327. It would be a 283. I don't find the numbers you list anywhere. So how do you know its a 327?

Post back the two or three letters at the end of the VIN number string on the deck pad above the pass. side water pump bolt, even if you gotta use a putty knife to scrape some paint off and I will try to tell you what the block originally was..

I have a couple of good books is how..

Looks like it is an "L-79" motors block!

'65/'66, 350hp/327 Chevy II motor.......................

And the 325hp/327, '67 motor too but with a Q-Jet instead of the others stock, Holley and high-rise intake system.

well thanx it looks like a chevy II high performance motor!! cool I`m not sure what its going in yet havnt got that far yet!!LOL thanx for the help and the engine code site!! the shop builder of the motor told me it was rebuilt to factory original specs 11-1 comp. with flat top pistons steel crank and a monster cam dose that sound correct? and he told me it would be 11-1 with small chamber heads (bought it with no heads) would i be better off running a larger chamber head like 993`swith 202 valves that would lower the compresion wouldn`t it??? make it a little pump gas friendlier??? thanx Tony

Even with small chamber heads, flat top pistons won't create 11:1 compression.

The Chevy II blocks have the oil filter boss cast higher into the block than other blocks, making them very unique. That block would be very desireable to the Chevy II guys so unless you really want it for a specific purpose or need it for an early (pre '68) Chevy II yourself, you might make out much better shopping it to the Chevy II crowd and using the proceeds to build something specific you really want.

Uh oh, the casting # seems not to match the engine stamp (ZI). Mortec shows different casting #'s for a Chevy II recessed filter block, not 3858180. You should post a picture of the oil filter area just to make sure.

On mortec web site only 4 blocks had the recessed oil filter boss
3790721....283...62-64...2...Chevy II recessed oil filter boss
3790721....327...65-66...2...Chevy II recessed oil filter boss
3791362....327...62-67...2...Chevy II recessed oil filter boss
3862194....283...65-67...2...Chevy II recessed oil filter boss
most likely someone had re stamped the front pad along time ago

The adaptor just changes it from a canister type to a spin on filter.
