Do a search on Steve S and Elree Colby, in this forum, they have many posts on gauges and conversions. First really need to know yr of car to answer any questions, include info on what you are using, factory or conversion aftermarket gauges and what wiring harness you are using.

Need temp sending unit for sure. Amp gauge does not have a sending unit. Does the car have round speedometer and dash idiot lights or the sweep speedometer? You also need a 71 foward lamp harness as it had the extra wires for the amp gauge.

There is no 'sending unit' for the amp guage. Don't remember if it's 71 or 72 they moved the horn relay up to the firewall and eliminated the junction block. If 71 has horn relay and junction block on the radiator support that is where the ammeter is connected. One lead goes to the horn relay, which is where the alt output is connected. The other goes to the junction block where the battery is connected. The ammeter reads the voltage drop across the wire connecting the junction block and horn relay to show amps and charge/discharge. You'll probably have to add this wires and run them back to the bulkhead connector on the firewall.

Suggest obtaining a wiring manual or at least a factory assembly manual for your car.

Go here for some good info (except that the bulkhead wiring is different for 72 and not as listed in this info).

Like Hank says all you need to do is add the two amp gauge wires to the forward lamp harness, not too hard to do and a whole lot cheaper than a new harness.
72 had the horn relay on the firewall, 70/71 have the horn relay on the radiator support.
