: Lacquer primer?

can you use lacquer primer under enamel paint? I say no others say its fine. Iwas told lacquer never dries therfore its always changing the topcoat.

Yes you can. was done all the time B-4 the new uro primers.

Bob, lacquer is very forgiving and there wouldn't be a problem with "that". But It is very old technology, sort of like if you were on a 166 computer.
Lacquer never cures, it may dry but it doesn't "cure" like a 2K product. The 2K has a hardener that links with the molecules in the primer,paint, clear, that gives you a film that is much less prone to shrink and is in most cases insoluable.

Plus you can't build with lacquer primer because it will shrink something hideously down the road and ruin all that hard bodywork.
Go to uro primers and be done with it and on the safer side.
Plus uros are waterproof so you can take your time doing the bodywork.

red2rider, yes you are right. Lacquer primer has less than 25% solids urethane primers have as much as 70%!!
