All I have to say is, as an Oklahoma student, being at the game, and losing to TCU...one of the most painful things I've ever experienced.

For the record, I will go with Iowa. They have a very solid offense and a good defense, despite losing some seniors. I know it's nothing to brag about being who they are, but they beat Ball St. 56-0 today.

I know they lost a few high profile players, but Auburn has a legitimate chance this year.

I'm always hopeful about Wisconsin, but not if they have another Minnesota Vikings style meltdown like last year.

Taylor...I understand exactly how you feel. I've been an dyed-in-the-wool OU fan 4ever and it was the continuation of the nightmare. I was at the Orange bowl, and have not even recovered from it yet. This is going to be a long hard season for us. If we continue to play like that, Texas will slaughter us. Hang in there...the rebuilding season will lead to better things.

I am a bred and born UM (Miami) fan. But because of the lack of a decent quarterback (Like Berlin was any good? LOL.. :p ) I don't think they will do much (Except hopefully beat FSU..)

Anyhow, I think it will be USC again..

You must be one of those NCAA fans who likes the losing teams. What has ISU done lately? When was the last time they were ranked in the top 25? Last I remember, they got beat my Missouri in there bowl game. Was that the Tin Foil Bowl or the Scotch Tape Bowl? Look for Iowa to contend for the championship.

OK so ISU may not be a Nat'l Champion contendor, but to clarify: Missouri game was their last conf. game and they lost (missed FG for the win). They went on to win the Independence Bowl.
They have beaten Iowa 5 of the last 7 meetings and Nebraska the last 2 meetings (although Nebraska is down) but try beating Nebraska at Lincoln - no easy feat any year.
I am a big ISU fan but I have to admit Iowa was very impressive Saturday, I watched it - 28-0 in first quarter.

I am by no means saying ISU sucks, and maybe that first sentence was out of hand, but saying Iowa is a bad team is simply ignorant. As for the 5 of 7 number is impressive, but tht was the past. Ferentz has done a great job with the program, considering the shoes he has to fill. Look for your number to be 5 for 8 come a few weeks.

Kurt S,
I lived in Iowa for 25 years so I know all about the Iowa sport teams and their fans.
Iowa might get a fairly high number in the beginning of the year but as usual they blow it when it counts.
Wasnt the last time when Iowa was in the Rose bowl like 3 years ago they had their arse handed to them by washington state I believe. God I loved that game.

It was the Orange Bowl, and they got beat by USC, the future 2 time national champions Ion't know if you have lookat at their record for the past 2 seasons, but they have gone, but they have done excelent. After losing Banks a few years ago, they struggled for a bit, but bounced back. Last year they went 10-2 after they lost the first 5 strings of running backs to injury. Iowa is a running team. Those two losses came in the second and third week, they lost the RB's in the first. If a running team can adapt as well as they did to a passing game, how do you think they will fair this year with healthy backs, and a stellar paassing offence? Ever since losing the Orange Bowl to USC, who was lead by a future Heisman Winner, they have been underated. After losing oly 2-3 outstanding defensive players in the offseason, while practically their entire offence stays the same, it is unexplainable to me how they can be ranked eleventh at the begining of the season. This is why I think they should not rant teams untill the 2-3 week. Say for instance a team eded a season with a so-so record. They come back the next year with great recruits, but they are ranked 21 st. Even if they undefeted they would have no chance at a national championship. I though a "Championship" game was to let the two best teams in the country have at it. An example of this is Auburn last year. I'm not saying they could of beat USC, but they could of put up a better fight than the Sooners.

No, but as anyone knows, if you're going to lose a game, lose early. Lots of teams have lost a big game at the beginning of the season and still been contenders. BTW I'm not an Auburn fan.

Well, I know it wont be Florida, as Alabama took care of that. Alabama controls their own destiny although losing their big time Receiver will hurt. Iam just taking it one game at a time. They put the screws to the SEC last year. Lets see how many undefeated teams are left at the end of the year!

UGA! Go Dawgs!!

Agreed. I watched Georgia walk over Tennessee. If they beat Alabama (now that Prothro is out), then USC will finally see a defensive line that has size and speed.

Adn the poll is a little off. Florida got spanked by Alabama, but Alabama is not up there. UGA is undefeated, and they are not up there. An undefeated team will win then BCS. I think this year will go without any controvery about who gets to play for #1. unlike Auburn who got SCREWED last year.

What was the TX/OK score?? (not to rub, I just forget.)

Anyhow, you have put in perspective the likelyhood of the BCS standings actually favoring someone. Look at UTAH last year. Undefeated, and they were what? Sixth in the final vote.. Proving it does not matter what a good a team does, but who that good team has on their side...

JMO and $.02..

Didn't Utah lose their bowl game? yeah, exactly. Remeber K-states recent spontanious rise to the top... they lost their bowl game that season too - by a LOT.

three of the most understated BSC words are:
STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE.

I think Florida State has a good chance this year, we beat Miami on the first game of the season. Thier defense is incredibly good and our offense is working on it. If we dont get in it this year we should have a good chance next couple of years with our QB and a lot of other very good freshmen this year. The redshirt fresman QB the highest amount of passing yards of freshmen in college football. We are ranked number 5 right now. I think we got a pretty good chance.

Well, how did Oklahoma get in? Give me a break.. They had a very easy schedule with only a handfull of moderately challenging games.

How would the BCS vote know that Utah was going to loose their bowl game?

Don't mean to offend or **** anyone off, just mearly stating my view on things..

Virginia Tech isn't in the poll either but I didn't get upset about it. We came as close as anybody to beating USC last year in the first game of the season. A bad pass interference call is all that saved USC. We will make that right. Could be this year. Seems nobody believes in us yet but we've been hanging around the top 25 for a couple of years now. Better not let your guard down. We might beat ya. ;)

Yea, VT is up there (I hate to admit it though..).

Anyhow, when I picked up my chevelle in Feb. the owner was wearing a VT sweatshirt. To bad I wasn't wearing the UM shirt I purposely brought. Although UM lost that year against VT :p

Texas, OSU, KState, Texas Tech, playing A&M at Kyle Field that year were a bit more than 'moderately challenging'.

Going to be a good game. Looks like its going to be which team has a better defense. We all know that both teams (USC and Texas) have tremendous offenses and can score at will. Whichever defense steps up and can throttle the other teams offense somewhat will win the game. I'm pulling for Texas. But I'm not dumb enough to put any money on the game!
