a few quick ones for my 69....

1) Are full quarters available anywhere?
1b) Is this better than doing a partial skin? If so what are the advantages?

2) Anyone have experience with the full door shells? how do they fit?
2b) Would you suggest a shell over a partial or full skin?

Thanks

Goodmark is supposed to be getting full quarters for a 69 chevelle in March. They only offer door skins. Midwest Restoration offers Quarters and Door shells (and skins too).

I've done 1/2 skin quarters, full skin quarters and full factory quarters. I would strongly advise using the factory style quarter. Full quarters are easier to work with, and look better once installed. The money that you save up front isn't worth the extra body work that the skins require.

I've done door skins and shells on a 67 Chevelle and the shell fits as good as the 30+ year old original. It's a lighter (Thinner) metal. I don't have any problem with door skins like I do quarter skins. Is the inner part of the door ok? If it is, skin it, if not, get the shell.

Yes full quarters are available, you just have to hunt them down.I have seen about a half a dozen of them on ebay in the last 3 months or so.Goodmark doesn't make their sheetmetal Golden legion is the maker and goodmark puts their name on it.I was waiting for a year and a half for goodmark full quarters and they just keep changing the arrival date.I found a set of nos 1/4's on ebay for a customers car.If you can find them that is the way to go,it will save you on labour and give you a higher quality end result.Just my 2 cents. redface.gif )

Dynacorn (DII) has been stamping and selling the 69 full rear quarters since August. I bought mine from my local distributor the first week of Sept. I haven't installed it yet but I also have two GM full quarters and did a total comparison of the two and they appear identical. My distributor has been dealing with both Goodmark and Dynacorn for years and has numerous inside connections. This is what he told me. Dynacorn developed and owns the dies and stamping for the 69 Chevelle full rear quarter. They will be the sole manufacture for this part. They released the part under thier name in mid August 04. They are holding out sales to Goodmark in order to fill the market first with thier name on the quarters. You can call Goodmark and they will tell you all kinds of stories about delays. They just arn't true. I bought my full rear quarter for $450. I've seen them as cheep as $399. But by dealing local I have no shipping cost and if it don't fit he'll take it back smile.gif

It's also my understanding that Golden Legion is one DII's overseas divisions. It's a corprate thing. Many corporations have different names for there companies overseas. I'm sure there's some sort of advantage to this.
