We have a guy in our club grafting the roof and the inside of the pillars that were rusted out like yours.

It's a lot of work drilling the spot welds from the donor car, and splitting the inner from the outer pillar, cuz there aren't any repop parts for this.

He cut the donor dash along the channel, and plans to butt weld that. But it looked just like yours.

If you go to Project: Get-R-Done Part I - Rick S. 67 Chevelle there might be a few pics as we are doing right now. Probably have 30 hours x 5 guys in the project so far. But since we are all pitching in it seems to be moving right along.

She is ugly, but can be done. There are some other threads that discuss this "PROJECT"
Not for the inexperienced hobbiest.
The photos posted, show the more challenging issues quite well.
Do a search on cowl, windshield, or dash repair.
Have some photos of my 66 ElCamino when it was being done. It too became a "convertible" for a while.

If I remember your project it a 66, and after market makes both the outer and inner channels for it.. there a PITA to fit,, As most after market peices are,,, but doable.
The cowel section is a ROLL your own of try to find a donor car.. any 67/67 A body will do BOP cars area good candidates.

I had the same issues with my dash on the '64. Got the repair pieces from OPG. They're made for '66-67 cars, but the only difference is the center speaker grille area on the dash. I lost one row of holes, nobody's counting them, last time I checked. ;) Made the job fairly quick and easy.

I purchased the lower windshield piece from Ausley's, I passed the car to another member before I did the work. I had a 64, that part may be the same. I hope you can still get it.

I admire people that can take something like that and restore it.

I did the same repair on a 67 EC. Not as bad as what you have. There are 2 repo, maybe 3 pieces that will get you started. I only had to replace the filler panel part. As stated in another post above,it is a big undertaking. All parts must go in perfectly. This is a key area of the cowl. Go for it,but please take lots of measurements and pics before cutting old stuff away. Take your time repairing. Do it wrong and you will have a huge mess on your hands.

That area is the only bad rust on mine and it's being worked on right now. Unfortunately, my car is 2500 miles away. I think uncle is going with a donor car for that area. He said it's about 3 ft wide I think? Fortunately, got down to the floor pans, and they looked like new! Always some good news. Good luck with yours!
