I'm restoring my 68 convertible. When I took the metal pieces at the top of the windshield where the sunvisors come out (it is two pieces where the rear view mirror splits), I had them sandblasted and I don't remember if the metal was covered with vinyl or not. Are they bare painted metal or are they covered with vinyl? They have a grainy look to them.

Those two pieces are just painted, not covered with vinyl. The top of the windshield header is covered with the vinyl material.
