I am stripping my 67 SS. I took the carpet off and have it down to the sheet metal. What is the correct paint that goes on this unseen portion of the car?? Is it the color of the car or is it primer???? Thanks for the input.

I find body color in my '67 (dark green). The car has black interior with factory eggshell black door tops and on the dash (flat black on top of dash ahead of pad). It hasn't been touched.

If it's to be covered by carpet and not seen, you'd do well to coat it with Silver Por 15.

My '69 is red oxide primer, except where the robots oversprayed, door sills / posts upper edge of doors, etc. (I believe the red primer was actually applied by dipping the body. The doors, decklid and front clip are different (black primer original).
