: Interior color

I have a problem I hope someone here can help me solve. I moved to a new home with a 25X45 heated pole barn. It came with a 67 GTO in the corner (it's not a chevelle, but is an A body) of the pole barn. The previous owner completely disassembled the car about 14 years ago, then got married, kids, other interests, and sold it with the house. It needs no body work, just prep and paint. I am planning on a bright blue with black interior. Do I have the interior painted the same as the exterior, or paint it black. Jambs and everything need paint. I know this is a general question, but any help would be appreciated.

Don't even touch the interior! Paint the car its original color, leave the inside orignal too. I wouldnt tamper with a car such as you are refering to. Paint the inside! YUK!!!!. NO NO NO NO.

The interior has paint that will differ from the outside, both in terms of the color shade as well as the sheen (gloss). Using exterior paint on the inside will look out of place.

I think Gary is referring to the metal parts of the interior, door jambs, metal part of dash, etc. I beleive these were body color but not positive.

Personally I would either do it body color or an accent too the body/interior.. Remember this is NOW your car.. if your not restoring it too original color and paint then do what you think would look good!!! Good Luck.. and enjoy your new house, car, polebarn.. and for our replies you should fill it with at least ONE chevelle http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif (thats a joke)

I would paint the inside of the car. I have no idea what color the inside should be like the dash and other parts but a little research about GTO's will help. Nothing would look more out of place then a fresh paint job and the interior looking like its 30 years old. If you are going to the trouble of painting the car at least redo the interior and the engine bay. In my personal opinion nothing looks more like an amateur hack job then a fresh coat of paint and a faded out interior whether being the seat covers or the paint on the dash, and an engine bay covered in grease. Good luck with your project...Eric

Thanks for the replys. With the move and all, I have not had time to really look at the car. The car was a rustfree southern car and the previous owner already knocked out the dings and nicks and scratches etc. It is black now, but the inside of the trunk is maroon and the trunk hinges are blue. I will have to check the codes to see what color it really was. I was curious about dash, etc like steve s said. Most everything else is covered anyway. Does anyone know if GM paints everything body color first, and then paints engine compartment and such.

Normie. Right next to the GTO is a 66 SS396 Chevelle Convertible that I have had for about 4 years.

Geez, Gary, I wish that I could move to a house with that kind of problem!!!!!!!! Did that have any influence on your decision to purchase the house? http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Seriously, if the interior is coded to be black, my gut tells me that everything in the interior will also be black, NOT body color.
