I know that there lots of people displaced by Katrina and My wife and I are offering room in our home for the family members of the TC folks. If you can get them up here to Waldorf, we can put a small family or some older or retired family members. Sorry I don't have any way to help to get them here other than going to Virginia to help them finish the trip.

How about it TC members, can some of y'all help too?.

Great idea, Leo!!!  I never thought of this.

I too have extra room for any displaced TC family members. Might be a little easier (Atlanta) to get to, also.

WOW - that's about all that I can say. I'm down in Miami but would like to help anyone that needs it. Not sure what I can do, but if there are some specific needs that someone from out of state can do PM me and I will help.
I know from my experiences with Andrew that mail/delivery will take a long time to come back. Also once reconstruction can start watch out for those out of state contractors - They are out for the quick buck and usually at someone else's expense. Be careful with them. Also another piece of advice I can offer is to alway carry tire repair kits, fix-a-flat and 12 volt air compressor. Once recontruction starts debris, nails etc are everywhere. These things will come in handy. GOOD LUCK and let me know if there is anything I can do.

Well folks up here in Canada we feel your pain - thank god we never get the rain storms you get but here in Ottawa we lived through winter storms like Ice Storm '98 where parts of our city were without power for over a month and home were lost people froze to death.

Wish there was a way I could help - mind ya my money is tight now - Doc just place me on a 1 year medical leave to get he rest of this treatment over

PS How are they gonna know since they aren't in their living rooms at their computers and no electricity?

Cant these offers be tied in with the Red Cross or some other disaster releif. I dont recommend FEMA and not sure how other state aid is but NY SEMA has just as much red tape as the Feds.

I'm wway up here in Northeast New York. We are getting some of the backlash, but absolutly nothing, nothing compared to them.

Can put up a family of 3-4, if need be.

Our thoughts and prayers are with all affected.

I just posted in the back room to see if we could get this thread to the Red Cross. I've been following this and it's just horrid

I would let someone stay, but I think travelling to California would be a little impractical. Then, we'd probably have a earthquake.

In my town, when you want to donate to a particular cause through Red Cross, you have to write "Shasta Area Chapter" on the check, so if you want to donate to Red Cross and make sure it goes to Katrina victims, you probably have to write "Katrina" on the check. (in the memo section, otherwise there will be a girl named Katrina financially set, real soon.)

Trying to lighten the mood just slightly.:)

I have just opened up my IRC server to Katrina victims and their famlies. You can get to the Katrina room by going to http://www.homecomputersecurity.net:81/lobby.html or connecting to irc.homecomputersecurity.net on port 6660 and joining #katrina with mIRC. I feel it's the least I can do to help.

for those of you that wish to reach officials and others in New Orleans you can go to the IRC rooms where they are located. Java interfaces for the rooms are at http://209.82.178.148/cgi-bin/irc.cgi and http://interdictor.unadopted.co.uk. The Internet is the only way they have to communicate at present. There is one Data Center in New Orleans that is being kept alive to help relief efforts.

Thank you all so much for your extremely kind offerings to the hurricane victims. I'm lucky, I'm high and dry just a messy yard and lost power for 4 days. It's VERY TOUCHING to see and hear these kind of offerings from people in the states. Again, Thank you.

I posted in the www.hurricanehousing.org that I have a complete RV hook-up station at my house, but unfortunately I don't have an RV. Anyways, I have 50 amp power, water, cable TV, and sewer connections. Sorry no room in the house, but we can accomadate a family of four with food, shower's, spare vehicle, family entertainment, and of course a fridge full of beer in the shop, and it's air conditioned too! We don't mind smokers and pets are welcome, but I don't have a fenced in yard.

I'm right smack in the middle of Georgia, 15 miles south of Macon, just off I-75. We have alot of residential construction going on, so I'm sure work can be found in the construction trades. We have a new subdivision going up right across the street. It's projected to have 900 homes and a new middle school, probably 5 to 6 years worth of work.

I would be willing to make arrangements to get an RV (I have a dually) and bring it to my house (tag only, no 5th wheel) if they own one or can get a loaner from FEMA or somebody.

My phone number is 478-987-9270
