I received my cowl ind. hood from unlimited about 3 weeks ago, when it was ordered they told me it would be 5-6 weeks delivery time, well it showed up in 2 weeks and I now know why, it must have been one they screwed up on and figured I was some hick in Missouri and they could send it to me and I wouldnt mind...the underside quality looks half finished, the cowl doesnt open into the engine compartment and the hood doesnt even sit down where it should, both front corners are raised a little, I ought to be able to pull them down with hood pins, it is going to take alot of work to get this hood to look good, anyone else have this problem???? I saved 125.00 over Harwood, and now I know why...I had bought a hood from them a few years ago for a Camaro and it fit fine,,,but I am sure disappointed with this hood....hope I can save someone else some grief.... http://www.chevelles.com/forum/frown.gif...the price was sweet, but the quality makes me bitter...

From what I hear that is the typical quality of that company.

Rapid Robert,
I have the same problems with mine. It's going to take a lot of work to make this thing straight. If your not satisfied though Rob why not send it back and get your money back?

I AM HAVING THE SAME B.S. FROM THESE GUYS.
I called them up on a rear decklid that I bought that just simply did'nt fit. They wanted me to pay for the freight back to them (80 bucks) so they could check it over and tell me what a piece of crap they sent me.
I have taken pictures of this decklid on my car next to a tape measure that shows that the front of the lid is sticking 1 1/2 inches above the rear quarters. I am going to scan this and E mail them the pictures and see if I cant get my money back. If it dont help, the pictures will be all over the internet, on every hot rod message board that I can find. Robert, E-mail me if you have any better ideas or any luck with these guys.

How did you guys pay them. Hopefully by Credit Card. If you did then put it in contest with the Credit Card Company and then go back to bargining with them. The Credit Card company will hold funds until it's satisfactorily resolved.

Guys, thanks for the the post.. I have there magazine and the prices look just to damm good for the material.. I was planning to the fenders, trunk lid and a hood from them but if this is the reputation of this company.. well then I defentally am going to spend the few extra bucks and go w/ Harwood's fiberglass products. I've had great luck and quality w/ Harwood.. I guess you get what you pay for... anyway if any of you have bought stuff from Unlimited let us know of the quality of it.. I am not going to gamble my money on crap fiberglass..
Thanks

If it were'nt for the 68.00 freight charges I paid to get it here and the 68.00 or more it would cost to send it back, I damn sure would have sent it back by now....if they offer to fix the problem at no charge to me I will send it back,,,if not, the bad pub on here and from word of mouth will go on.... http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif

I had the same problems with them. I bought a 2 1/2" cowl hood. The cowl was open like it should be, but the way they cut it was poor and had to be re-done to make the edge of the hood match. It sat down okay, but the stress from my hood pins has caused it to dimple around each front pin. Also the underside was pretty poor, granted, i've yet to see a smooth underside on a glass hood; but mine had peg-board underneath the cowl area for support. You could see it on the top side of the hood also, we had to do alot of sanding and smoothing to get the ripples of the fiber-peg-board out of the hood. It looks okay now, but not nearly as perfect as the rest of the sheet metal.

I spent a month bitching at them until I finally gave up and contacted a friend who is a lawyer. He said I didn't have much of a chance about it, but after he contacted them they took the $350 off my credit card.

If you paid with a credit card, I would just dispute the charge and make it charge back to them..You'll still be out on shipping, but you can get them for the hood.

The only advantage of them over harwood is harwood ships many of their hoods with extra glass around the entire hood so you have to cut it down to fit. A major pain, especially if the rest of the car is already painted. I've also seen harwoods that make you cut out the back of the cowl area; this way the hood has less of a chance of cracking or getting damaged in shipping.

Good luck.

I have seen this time and time again with this company.I bought 2 fenders and a cowl hood from them last year. The whole thng was a nightmare..First it took them about 8 weeks instead of the 4 to 5,,I was on the phone and e-mailing them constantly.I said I wanted to cancel the order after about the 6 or 7th week and they said it will cost 25% or 30% to cancel a order.when I finaly got the parts it was the worst quality that I have ever seen. The cowl had a crack in it,,one of the fenders had a whole the size of a dime in it,and it had blotches of resin all over everthing..Every person I have talked to has had trouble with these people we as costumers need to help in shutting this place down.I cant beleive they are still in business,,I havent got these parts on yet, they arent even better than the parts that I was going to take off,the stuff thats on my nova right now is 20 years old and beaten and its still better than the crap I got from ulimited.
think about it before you buy from these people..is there a lawyer in the house..need to start a group lawsuit
good luck

well, my printer is on the outs,,,,soooo, I just cut and pasted the whole bulletin board and sent it to them along with a few of my thoughts on their product....I see I am not the only one disappointed with their quality of workmanship....its just a start and if it makes their quality improve, I feel this will all be worth it....keep on Chevelle'n http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif

This post should have been closed in accordance with TC policy, but it will be left open should they choose to respond here.

Again, for future reference, we are not in a position to discuss suppliers on an open forum such as this. Emailing responses and collecting the data is perfectly fine, so is the private area (members only though) or the chevelle mailing list (see front page) which openly discusses supplier issues amongst everyone subscribed.
