RTV is room temperature vulcanizing silicone. The acronym is most commonly applied to any type of gooey stuff in a tube. There are actually dozens of types and each on ehas a very specific application. For example there are engine silicones, transmission silicones, gear/axle silicone, high temp silicone, anarobic sealer, aerobic sealer, and various specialty silicons like those for glass and high strength bonding. They should really only be used for their intended application.
WD40 is a trade name for a specific rust penetrant. STP is a brand name for a line for mostly petroleom related products.

WD40 means "people actually think this will break rusty bolts loose" in an obscure dead language.

STP was developed originally by Studebaker's tech group and was also known as Studebaker Technical Products oil treatment. I think Byfield's explanation is also correct, as STP was sold to another company and they promoted it as Scientifically Treated Petroleum.
