Anyone have experience replacing the metal line for the oil pressure gauge on a 66 396? The line itself looks like its steel, and slips into a brass fitting above the oil filter. My original line cracked, and I'd like to replace it with a factory-appearing one. Is this type of line or tubing available?

I'd think the tubing should be copper, not steel, at least it was in 64 and 65. The copper tubing kits can usually be purchased from any number of parts vendors. If you find it not available for your application, you can buy a roll of the tubing itself from the manufacturer. I did it that way on my restoration as at the time I was doing mine the only kits available were for Corvettes which did not provide enough tubing to work on a Chevelle application. I've got the name of the manufacturer around somewhere at home and can look it up if you can't find a ready-made kit which includes the tubing.

It appears to be available from our vedor sponsor: http://www.ss396.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=N-1131&Category_Code=&Store_Code=chevellecamino
I know the original line on a number of cars I've owned were copper, but perhaps steel was used as well.
