I have been told a variety of answers but doubt the knowledge to back them up. I am restoring a 1970 chevelle with the original LS5, it came with white interior; now for obvious reasons this frame off resto should be done correctly. What color should the console and dashpad be, black or white? If someone DEFINITELY knows please tell-I don't want to guess!! Thanks in advance!!

I've never seen a white dash and center console. Has anyone else?

the dash pad and console were always the color of the interior, except for white.
the dash pad & console would be black with a white interior, so my chevelle restoration guide says
The dash pad and console are usualy the color of the carpet.

The way I've seen it, the seats and door panels would be white, the carpet, console, and dash would be black.

The LS5 car I had was a pearl interior car. Here's what's what...
Pearl White....
Seats, seat backs, arm rests and pads, door panels, and rear seat side panels, upper and lower, and door jamb windlace.
Black....
Carpet, dash panel, dash pad, front kick panels, steering column, headliner, headliner trim, rear window area trim, and package tray. Seat belts too. Console, if so equipped.

I have a 70SS 396 w/ original Pearl Interior.
What Dave has described is correct in every detail. I have the factory console.
