: How to attach a 69 convertible boot?

I just got my first convertible top boot for my 69 Chevelle. I’m not sure how to install it. I can see the two snaps on each cylinder cover. How do you get the front lip into the channel on the rear of the seat? – and how does the back of the cover attach? – do the plastic tabs slide under the SS trim strip? If so will they damage the paint?

Thanks,

Mike

Mike,

The round plastic welting on the forward edge of the boot just slides into the channel from one side. Then, as you correctly guessed, the thin plastic edging slides underneath the stainless trim around the top opening. Start in the center and work outward. Finally, fasten the snaps on the side panels. It is not exactly a quick, easy process :( It does produce very minor scratching of the paint, but nothing that won't go away with a little speed shine or wax.
