I've searched the previous posts and glasstek seems to be the company to get my cowl hood from. Has anyone else purchased a cowl hood from them or anyone else and have comments?

I've got a Glasstek 2.5" cowl hood being painted at the body shop for my 69 Elky. It needed very little prep to be ready to prime & paint. The bottom is not as nice as the smooth bottom of a Harwood but all they offered was a 4" unit,,too tall for me.

I just found out that a company that's a neighbor of Glasstek sells Glasstek hoods, cheaper than Glasstek does. Guess their philosophy is to sell volume instead of high price. I even checked with Glasstek to see if they were selling this guy their flawed or 'second' hoods. I was assured Glasstek doesn't release flawed hoods and that this guy has bought a lot of hoods from them, and quality is the same. Company is Tamraz Auto Parts Warehouse in Plainfield, IL. Their number is 800-442-4601. Takes about 2-3 weeks unless they happen to have one in stock. I'll be ordering mine soon.

I'm happy with the Harwood I bought (at least how it looks, haven't driven the car with it yet). The underside is finished nicely and the hood took very little massaging to install. The hood closes like a refrigerator door...smoothly. My body man has only nice things to say about it.

Disregard my previous post. There was a misunderstanding about the year of my car...they quoted me the wrong price. They're about the same as Glasstech. Sorry
