: Oh My God its home from the body shop!
red68chevL Jan 2nd, 04, 12:00 PM It only took 23 MONTHS, 4 days, 3 hours to finish it! I am happy with the outcome, even though i should be pissed about the time frame. What do ya think?

Bill Pritchard Jan 2nd, 04, 2:19 PM I think it looks mighty good. If it's a quality job and it turned out the way you wanted it to, then just forget about the time frame ;)
By any chance, was the body shop/paint guy in Genoa IL?
ehjorten Jan 2nd, 04, 3:39 PM Looks good...you can really see the surface finish in the second picture. You can see the corrugated lines of the shop in the paint. From the picture it looks like the driver's door might be a tad wavy, but it is probably the angle of the picture. Can't wait to finish my '68 C-10 so I can get started on the frame off for the Chevelle. Jealous! graemlins/thumbsup.gif
cjlandry Jan 2nd, 04, 4:45 PM Looks great!
I hope my car can look that good someday. There's nothing better than a fresh paint job on a beautiful car! graemlins/thumbsup.gif

red68chevL Jan 2nd, 04, 5:35 PM Bill,
Actually it was painted in southern Iowa, my father has a better place to store it than me. Are you waiting on a car as well? I dont know many TC'ers in Northern IL, maybe you could let me know when something is going on up here in IL.
Tim and Bill,
excellent looking cars as well! I love seeing other pics of 68's , makes me drool.... :D
As for the drivers door, I'm no body man but there are no waves in any piece of metal on this thing, that I see. It is most definitely the angle of the camera and the building lighting.
Thanks for all of the positive feedback nonetheless.
By the way, It's Code70 Torch Red.

Bo6869ChevelleMan Jan 2nd, 04, 10:19 PM WOW graemlins/thumbsup.gif Scott, Your 68 Chevelle is GLOWING now. Looks sharp! Did they spray it in PPG Basecoat/clearcoat ? Its more on the bright red side than orange correct ? Sure does shine Brightly. How many coats of clear ? Take lots of pics. zachscc Jan 3rd, 04, 1:26 PM Lookks great! Might want to use masking tape or some other tipe of protection when putting the bumpers on!
Bill Pritchard Jan 3rd, 04, 2:50 PM Scott,
No, I'm not waiting on anything, but I know a guy in Sycamore IL (was or maybe still is a member here) who had a 69 Chevelle. He had it painted by a guy in Genoa IL and it took forever.
BTW, I see no ripples in your door either. I think it's just a reflection of the building siding.
Your car looks great. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Trooper Jan 4th, 04, 8:35 AM Scott,
Great looking car. It's nice to see another Illinois Chevelle being restored. I like the color. Can you give us a little more info on the paint (brand, BC/CC, number of coats).
I'm sure when you got it home the time factor just disappeared. One of mine was scheduled for the paint booth last Sept. and is still taking up space in my shop with no immediate date in site. I'm willing to wait as long as it's ready for next summer.

red68chevL Jan 5th, 04, 6:02 PM Ok guys,
Sorry it took so long to get back, but I called the body man to get the facts straight.
It's Basecoat/Clearcoat, DuPont Torch Red (Corvette Alternate), DuPont Clearcoat #7900S (new stuff) 3 coats of clear.
Thats what it is, I'm glad everyone likes it, the more I here, the less the money or time matters.
Dude,
That is going to be one sweet ride when you are done. Very Cool. I might be be biased though ;)
Here is my Bu I had around 1983. Pic is a little old but that is original paint smile.gif :
