My 72 velle had a new GM 1/4 on it when I bought it but the guy did'nt replace the rusted wheel wells at the same time. kinda stupid i thought but is it possible to do it now and not remove the 1/4. If i do need to remove the 1/4 I'm thinking it will damage it. thanks

It has been almost 5 years since my son and i did it but we did the following on my 68 malibu. The lips on qtrs were rusted like most so we cut the lip off to weld in a new lip from a repair panel, The wheel house was rusted so bad it was difficlt to repair . We bought new wheel houses and in the center where the two halves come together we carefuuly cut away the old halfthat was bad. The inside half was in excellent condition so we replaced the outer half . We used all metal alumninum body filler tht water proof to wipe over the welds after we ground them down smooth. We used a DA sander to smooth the filler down . WE also used 3M seam sealer in some places. Wepainted the area and it looked good . It was a hard job . You can look and your and decide if you want go that way. THe wheel houses are nice pieces and come with a Ecoat or something similiar again we are not pros but it turned out good. always use a mask when sanding the aluminum filler
