What welder should I use to patch panels on my car. I have access to a 110 tig welder with argon, and a mig welder, wirefeed without the gas hook-up. I can tig weld very good, but do not have much experience with the mig. Would the tig be too hot for the body panels? Any experienced suggestions graemlins/beers.gif

personally... the flux core wire welders are JUNK ...IMO ...
If you TIG it I suggest you have someone else there following the weld with a brass hammer to draw the heat out. Works very well ..
if you dont have anyone else... maybe stop every inch or so and cool it off with compressed air.
But I strongly suggest a partner in this.

I'd either upgrade the MIG to gas w/ C25 shielding gas... or TIG very carefully paying attention that your heat affected zone doesn't get out of control.
Forget the flux option - no way.

If Tig welding try these tips
1.Clean and clean again both parts to be welded
2.Get the smallest electrode assembly possible to keep the heat down.
3.Small fill rod diameter
4.Practice on a couple pieces of scrap
5.Butt/Stitch welding is the prefered method a lap weld requires more body work.
6.The pros do this and metal finish with next to no filler so be patient and show us the results.
