Hello everyone,
Today I recieved the Moog replacement springs for the rear of my 1970 Chevelle. I plan to try and put them in this weekend. I do have a question that may be answered once I get started but, just in case, here goes.....How do you tell which way the springs go in? One end seems to be tightly wound with very little gap between the coils while the other end has a much wider spacing. So...which way is up/down?
Thanks,
Mike

Hello again,
Well, this weekend I did manage to install the new Moog springs on the rear of my 1970 Malibu. I got the springs from Summit. They are the Moog CC501. They are supposed to be factory replacements although the "CC" stands for " Cargo Coil". Anyway, I got them on today without any problems. They did manage to raise the rear of the Malibu by about 1". To me the front end still sets up too high so, I guess now I will try to lower the front end by about 1"-2". I am considering cutting the front coils. Could someone tell me about how much I should cut out to lower the front end about 1"-2"?
Thanks,
Mike
You can order new springs that are "1" shorter with the same spring rate. Just get into the Moog spring book and figure it out. I lost my book, or call there 1-800-325-8886

this is the link to the Moog chart.. http://www.classiccarsprings.com/springrates.html
Cutting coils will lower the car but raise the spring rate making the car ride harder.

Thanks for the replies. Tom....What springs do you have that are "too low"?
Do you have a pic of your car that I could see? Maybe we can trade.
