Can anyone give me the screw hole measurements for the left and right door mirrors on a 69 chevelle?
I welded them up on both sides due to oversize holes and possably not the correct place anyway?
Im not even shure the pass. side is to have one as there is no reinforcement inside the door for the screws to go into?
Does anyone know if this was an opton in 69?
The one on the pass side I couldnt see out of anyway and the angle of the mirror looked dorkey when I could?
wrong place?
any help will be appreciated!!!!!
thanks T.C.

TC,

Driver's door 8-3/4" from center of the front hole to the front edge of the door.
Holes are 1-3/4" center to center.
1-1/2" down from the body line. (the assembly manual shows .92" down?)

My car originally had the remote mirror maybe it's different?

I don't have the passenger miror option, like you I didn't think it looked "right" and added the mirror to my collection of misfit parts. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif
Hope this helps.

Thanks Jeff:
I am confused?
There is a big difference between .92" and 1.5"?
Was your mirror mounted at the factory?
Mabe the base on the remote is larger than the standard mirror?
Do you know what metal on the inside of the door you hit when you drilled the holes?
I know the bracing has a nickle size hole and two other smaller holes.
I am guessing these are for two screws and the remote rods/cable?
I may take you up on the picture offer.
thanks T.C.

TC, Yes it is a big difference that's why I mentioned it.
Tomorrow I will try and remember to snag the digi cam from work and shoot you a pic, along with the page out of the AM.
I can't see how the .92 would have worked on my car though? The screw holes would be located at the top of the nickel sized hole? Right now they are pretty much centered on the larger hole.
The large center hole is factory, I had to drill the screw holes, like yours mine were covered over. I take it all 3 of yours are covered over?

If I remember right the bases of the two mirrors are the same.
Yes, the nickle sized hole was for the cables.

Anybody else shed some light on the subject?

TC,

Don’t mount the passenger side mirror at the same dimension as the drivers side mirror. The passenger side mirror should be more forward. Have someone hold the mirror in place while you sit in the drivers seat to get a usable location.

Don’t ask me how I know this http://www.chevelles.com/forum/frown.gif

Thanks Jeff and Bubba396:
Yes my holes are all covered/welded closed (inside)and blended into the rest of the sheet metal.
There was a K-mart special mirror on the car when I bought it (didnt even make the used parts bin with that one)anyway huge holes and I think a remote mirror hole?
So I welded a patch into the whole mess and now have a nice new serface to drill into.
Please help me drill in the correct place!!!!
Thanks T.C.
