Here are some pictures of my ls6 when I found it and some of the restoration that I have done to it.Also included are some vintage shots of Oswego racetrack, the blue '67 chevelle also belonged to the original owner of the ls6 that I have, it was a 375hp 4 speed 396 car. Go here for the pictures. http://photobucket.com/albums/a99/rob70/

That frame looks awesome!
Leaving the interior as is? Looks like it cleaned up pretty nice...

The interior did clean up nice and I will be able to keep it all original. Thanks for the comment on the frame,It took a lot of time sand blasting it,using metal prep and priming it.

Oswego! I can still remember the commercials on WLS that we could pick up at night in far southern Indiana in the mid-late 60's. "SUNDAY,SUNDAY,SUNDAY AT OSWEGO DRAG RACEWAY"! That one and U.S. 30, Byron, and Union Grove. Seems like there were one or two others in the "Chicagoland" area then.

"This is an actual recording of a US30 Drag Strip commercial from the Larry Lujack show on Chicago’s WLS-89 radio. At 5:05 PM on Monday, October 5th, 1970, Larry exits a Supremes song into the ad for Wednesday, October 7th’s race. Listen for the admission price, and for a badly dated Budweiser commercial that followed."

The '67 was not crushed, a guy in rome,il bought it.It needed a lot of help, engine was gone, had a ce warranty block, tranny gone, I think that he got it for 1000.00.I knew the original owner before he passed,he was always nice to me.had some neat stories to tell. How did you know about his cars?

I worked with a guy in henry that knew him and introduced him to me cause he said the guy had talked of selling one or the other, i didnt have a problem with him he just seemed a little excentric was all. I am glad someone got the 67 but it did need exstensive work!! A guy i used to work with told me that it had been crushed!! after the owner passed i had tried to contact the next of kin the daughter and mother but some clown that was a drinkin bud to the deceased always interfeared I think triing to get his hand in the cookie jar so to speak so I passed on the whole situation and ended up with this insteadhttp://i15.photobucket.com/albums/a351/Tonystoys123/openhood.jpg looks very similar to the ls6 but just a malibu the strange thing is i got it in almost the same situation u got the ls6 with the owner passing and the relatives not sure if they wanted to part with it or not!! p.s. I think I met you one day while you were going through the semi trailer looking for all the ls6 parts and the daughter told me to look in there to see if the 67 parts were in there!!?? any way congradulations on your find I am sure u got it for a song!!

Jim did not have a daughter, the only family that he had was his mom and his niece. He died after I got the car but before I had paid him in full.I learned of his death when I called to try to make arrangements to give him the rest of the money.so I gave the rest of the money to his mom aat his visitation.I'm still trying to track down some of the parts for it such as the carburetor, distributor etc....

Good ol' Uncle Lar. Is he still kickin'? How about Li'l Snot nose Tommy. I laughed so hard my sides would hurt with "Animal Stories" on WLS. Good memories.

Larry Lujack is retired & lives in Arizona today.
He hasn't been heard from since the mid 1980's, but recently he appeared on Chicago Stoires here on PBS.
He was a joy to listen to on the radio back then, but is one of the most condescending, pompous ass personalities you could ever imagine.
Not even Lil Snot Nose wants to work with him again.

Rick,

You ought to tune your AM radio to 1690 some weekday morning. Larry Lujack and Tommy Edwards have been doing the morning show together for the past 2 years now. I am listening to "Animal Stories" as I type this. They are as good as ever. The station also broadcasts worldwide over the internet (which is a real good thing as it is very low power and has limited radio reception range) at http://www.realoldies1690.com .

Rob, sorry for hijacking your topic. Your car looks like it is progressing very nicely

Holy Crap..I gotta tune into them! :)
I'll disregard what I saw on Bob S. show.It was taped over two years ago,so maybe they reconciled.
Thanks for the tip Bill. ;)
