Hey guys,
I've got to repair the bottom part of the cowl on both driver and passenger side. The part I'm talking about is where the lower rear part of the fenders bolt to the cowl near the rocker panel. One side is worse than the other... my question is what sort of drainage mechanism was in place there? (yeah, both are disintegrated on the back side near the frame). I ASSume there was some sort of drain flap (maybe similar to what's on the rear part of the rocker near the back wheels) so that rain could escape the cowl area. This area probably commonly got clogged with leaves, squirrel turds, etc and rusted. I'm a little suprised to not see repair panels for this area offered by the big parts suppliers. If anyone has a pic of this lower area from the frame side (i.e. if your body was off the frame), that would really help me a bunch... otherwise I'm just going to guess what needs to be done back there. Oh, one more question - does that lower fender nut need to "float" (i.e. a cage nut), or is it supposed to be fixed in place?
Thanks,
jC.
