Found a fender in good shape but the previous owner sanded it down to bare metal and left it outside for the weekend and of course it rained. What have you found to neutalize the rust and get it ready to prime?

Sand Paper
There is no spray on quick Fix...for rust IMO.
If it was only a weekend the Flash Rust should not be that bad.. use a DA or sanading block..
120 should make quick work of it.. 180 will also do the trick.

Like Wayne said no quick cure for rust. You need to fully remove that rust BEFORE painting.

Can use 120 180 grit on a da. If that doesnt work then go to local parts store and see if they carry any 3M clean-n-strip discs. They are a super sweet tool that can be used on a Rolec pad or used on a regular drill providing you get the one with the premade mandrel on the disc.

Basically it looks like a black sponge and will fit into all those nooks and crannies that a piece of sand paper WONT. 3M also makes a other cool little thing called the bristle stripper I believe. Round little disc with hundreds of tiny little bristles hanging down, really works nice, come in about 3 grits 80,180...Eric

Edit...3M part number for the clean in strip 07466
Plus couldnt forget Cubs Win graemlins/hurray.gif

CLR? or some of that rust stuff from POR if you want to just remove the rust, but you'll need to sand it down anyway so just do as they said, sandpaper.
