The wifes 65 impala has some rust in the windshield channel and drip rails. This is pitted rust but no holes. Can I sandblast these areas and then etch prime then epoxy prime,or do I have to replace the metal?
These areas will be difficult to replace if I am force to do that. Do I need to prep the area with an metal prep or somthing after sandblasting but before the etch prime? I have a picture in my showroom of the windshield rust, I would link to this post but can't figure it out.

If there are no Through Holes.. you need no welding.. Just blast and clean area to be painted with a pre-clean..
Then ecth and 2-K primer sand and finish coat

if there are small voids,, and your anal.. after you blast fill them with Kitty Hair ( fiberglass Filler ) most will be sanded off but it will leave a FLAT surface,,
