: Heading to the track tonight
mc71454 Aug 24th, 05, 11:28 AM Worked through some tuning issues  and heading out for some all-out flogging tonight (at least until the dew comes down around 7:30). I still have the factory bumper in place and my stock disc brakes.
I had to abandon my Lightweight Odyssey battery setup since it can't hold a charge or have any sustaining power to power the electric fan without the car running...
I may be up on weight from last year since I traded my lift-off hood for a bolt-on one with the hinges re-installed.
I will post up some results if I get useful data.
10secBu Aug 24th, 05, 11:40 AM Good deal Tom!
Looking forward to hearing how the combination runs...all out, no sandbagging;) .

Ha Ha...Not yet...A few other items have taken priority  .
I heard there was a heat soak problem with the SB pump that has been rectified with a gasket or retrofitted insulator of some sort. I am waiting for a little more testing of the BB pump (by others hopefully :D) especially with the other nitty gritty things I have been dealing with.
thanks for mentioning it, I hope to see some results soon from other sources..

Thanks Todd..
The guy I took out last Wed for some shakedown runs wasn't too happy with the throttle burps starting at the 330 ft mark...ooops !! Mine wasn't running right so nothing to report yet.
Todd, I sent you a PM..
dbreese Aug 24th, 05, 1:44 PM Yea I had the heat soak problem but it was quickley resolved with the isolation gasket that Howard sent. I've been very pleased with the performance of the pump. Can't wait for some good air + my Pro Systems 4150 carb. Should make the car a little quicker. BTW good luck tonight!

mc71454 Aug 25th, 05, 9:14 AM 1.528 to 1.532 60 ft's
10.84, 10.80. 10.77....124.6 mph.
The car is right back where it was last year, Traction was just OK, there was a little squirmyness but pulled the tires real good.
Keep in mind that the only changes I have from last year is a 112 LSA versus 110 LSA on an otherwise Identical Cam when you correctly count the lash.
Also the cam is at 0* with no advance or retard right now.
Last Night the car weighed 80 more pounds than it did last year (heavier hood and hood hinges and I ran it with 8 more gallons of gas than my previous 10.76 best).
I will be advancing the cam to 4 degrees advanced on Saturday and running it again on Wed.
After that I will bolt the Pro-Systems Carb on it once it gets some adjustments.
So, I am very happy with the Transmission, converter and the cam re-install.

What was the weather like, Tom?
80 lbs, huh? Gotta stay away from those chicken wings, pizza, beer, ... ;)
GRN69CHV Aug 25th, 05, 10:54 AM Good thing I wasn't the factored in as the driver or it would have weighed 100# more. 80# for changes to the car and 20# that I packed on over the past year! It's OK Tom, you can come clean - we're all friends.

Bill,
The weather was excellent...same type as when I ran those 6 10.76's in a row last year. The only thing off a little was the traction as it is street night. I couldn't (wouldn't) make anymore passes after the evening dew came down.
My distributor shaft bushing is shot and the timing is jumping all around, new Dizzy going in Saturday. the one I have is 6 to 7 years old.
BillsCamino Aug 25th, 05, 11:29 AM My distributor shaft bushing is shot and the timing is jumping all around...
I know how that is... recently went to a MSD crank trigger setup to stablize mine. Had to modify the March serp crank pulley to allow for the crank trigger thickness.
I still run mechanical waterpump, alternator. power steering, clutch fan,...
I wish we'd get some of that weather! Soon.

kjett Aug 25th, 05, 12:52 PM Good job, Tom. Glad to hear your back at the track. I'm guessing with the down time you've had that you're not running points this year? I've missed three races this season (rear gear breakage and vacation). Our track is taking 16 footbrake cars to the divisionals. With 4 points races left looks like I'll be going:

dbreese Aug 25th, 05, 1:46 PM Hey Tom,
Sounds like your gaining on it! Good Job!
